Software Trainer

ScholarPack (part of The Key) is a Management Information System (MIS) used every day by over 1,600 primary schools in England. We are a fast-moving company that has grown rapidly – supporting schools to replace legacy systems with a modern product. 

The role

We are looking for a software trainer to join our brand new training team. Help unlock our schools potential through excellent and inspiring training. Within this role you will be:

  • Delivering high quality training sessions to customers, predominantly  remotely with some sessions in person, as well as training new members of the team and throughout the wider company.
  • Helping to develop and expand the training portfolio by creating training resources (including internal and external training).
  • Delivering online webinars and drop in sessions for our customer base.
  • Working with local authorities and support partners to gain support and training accreditation.

The ideal person 

You will:

  • Have great organisational skills
  • Have fantastic written and verbal communication
  • Have drive and ambition
  • Be a proactive worker
  • Have experience with G Suite and Microsoft Office products
  • Be comfortable with longer days and potential stays away from home
  • A full UK driving licence is required.

It would be nice if you:

  • Have training experience
  • Have experience within the education sector
  • Have experience with video editing.

Python Developer

Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for any Python Developers looking to work in a team where your contribution is valued, with a group who are passionate about delivering the best product for schools.  You’ll be maintaining and delivering improvements to our existing code base and working on developing new features when required

A day in the life of a Python Developer at ScholarPack

  • Full stack development, making improvements to the ScholarPack MIS
  • Helping to maintain our industry leading reputation for product development.
  • Migrating a legacy codebase to a modern architecture.
  • Services, RESTful APIs, backend/frontend architecture, design patterns, command-line tools, SQL.
  • Helping to choose our technologies and our approach to development.
  • Working alongside our Data and DevOps teams to support and maintain our systems.

About you

  • You have professional experience working with web technologies in a commercial software development environment.
  • You’re knowledgeable of OOP principles, Python (or a similar language and a willingness to learn Python) and relational databases.
  • You loves working collaboratively with other developers in a tight-knit team

It would be great if you have

  • Some experience working with PHP and React
  • Knowledge of basic Linux command line tools, version control (we use GIT).
  • Experience working with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Katalon or similar would be desirable.
  • An appreciation of UI and UX and their role in modern software.

The QA team is pivotal to our commitment to deliver superb quality software to our customer base.  We have an exciting opportunity for a QA engineer looking to work in a team where your contribution is valued, with a group who are passionate about delivering the best product for schools, and you’ll help by shaping the testing function of our development team.

A day in the life of a QA Engineer at ScholarPack

  • Working in a fast past environment with our development team to test software both manually and with an automation suite
  • Helping to maintain our industry leading reputation for product development
  • Shape the testing function of our team with input into the technologies we use
  • Testing the front end of the system manually and helping us to automate this process
  • Building tooling to help us test our suite of RESTful APIs
  • Helping to choose our technologies and our approach to development
  • Working alongside our Data and DevOps teams to support and maintain our systems

About you

  • You have professional experience working in a QA Engineering role in a commercial software development setting
  • You want to help shape our automated testing roadmap and take the lead on getting this into our processes and practices
  • You have experience using any automated testing tools like Selenium / Helium / Beautifulsoup / Locust / Gatling / Faker / Katalon
  • A keen eye for detail and an ability to manually test software with a critical eye

Bonus points if you have

  • Some experience with OOP – Python, PHP or knowledge of a similar language or a willingness to learn 
  • Experience working with relational databases
  • Knowledge of basic Linux command line tools, version control (we use GIT)
  • An appreciation of UI and UX and their role in modern software
