About ScholarPack

We’re ScholarPack, a leader in EdTech. In fact we are winners of the ‘Best Company of the Year’, and were given a ‘Highly Commended for Innovation in Education and Training’, at the Lincolnshire Tech and Innovation Awards. We started 6 years ago with 2 men in a shed, and now we have a turnover of over £4m with around 1400 customers.

ScholarPack are a leading cloud based MIS provider for primary schools.

We have an interesting challenge –  a unique loading pattern, which peaks rapidly at certain times of day when schools are most active. To address this challenge we use AWS Fargate to host our Containers, and have developed an impressive scaling algorithm in Python.

Why we’re different?

Challenge is what we thrive on, and we enjoy solving problems, but culture plays a vital role here too. We make work fun and love to learn. We regularly have ‘brown bag’ lunches to share knowledge and encourage personal development through courses and events. In addition we share knowledge across sites.

Health and Wellbeing is important to us, and we encourage a good work life balance with flexible working. In the evenings we chill out with regular games nights. We have a casual dress code and always shout about and like to celebrate our successes – a love of pizza is essential.

Our smart new offices are at the heart of Lincoln’s digital hub, Mosaic, where we take a leading role in promoting and growing technology businesses.

DevOps at ScholarPack

The DevOps team are vital to software delivery and operational availability within the business.

They provide the toolset and processes which enable the development team to release changes to their software throughout the day with no downtime to the end users. DevOps ensure the best systems and services are leveraged using the wide breadth and depth of AWS services. They work alongside development providing support and advice on the best infrastructure solutions.

Availability is key, and DevOps are responsible for building the monitoring and alerting systems for our services, and following a process of continuous improvement to ensure our stack is at its best.
